How do you know the risk of getting the most malware on your Android phone? A recent report by NortonLifeLock and the IMDEA Software Institute in Madrid reported this shocking information. The report claims that 67.2% of malware found on an Android phone comes from the Google Play Store. In other words, malware is entering your smartphone from the Google Play Store from which you are downloading the most Android apps. This malware or malicious software can steal confidential information from your phone or laptop. If that happens, the user will not even notice the in short.

Researchers claim that the spread of malware from the Google Play Store is widespread, with more downloads coming from the Google Play Store than any other source on Android phones.

Technology experts have come to this conclusion after four months of testing on 79 lakh data of 12 million Android phones. The report compares Android with app downloads from Play Store, web browsers, alternative markets, instant messaging and seven more sources.

Tests also show that only 10.4% of malware apps are installed from third party app stores. On the other hand, 67.5% of malware enters the app from the Google Play Store.

Researchers also say that 10-24% of Android users have at least one unwanted app on their phone.
